DocumentOverview
The DeSoto Records Division is responsible for maintaining all records generated by the Police Department. Records Coordinator Tiffanie Clark and two full-time technicians staff the Records Division. The staff answers all records requests from the public, other law enforcement agencies, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, DeSoto Municipal Court, Child Protective Services and the U.S. Military. Filling Open Records Requests are a time-consuming task, and the number of records requests made to the Division typically increases year-to-year. The staff also submits NCIC/TCIC validation reports to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) which helps analyze the FBI Crime Statistics for DeSoto.

crime statistics
The division tallies the crime statistics for each month and for the year, and sends the information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for use in their Uniform Crime Report.
