The Paul S. Dryer Preserve at Windmill Hill, formally named the Windmill Hill Preserve utilizes a soft surface trail throughout the park that sits in heavily vegetated areas. The trails require a moderate amount of physical activity to traverse and give residents a close connection with nature.

Paul S. Dryer Preserve at Windmill Hill is 75 acres of land, set aside by the City of DeSoto and Dallas County as a nature preserve. Nestled in woods providing shade in the summer, there is a great hiking trail with gentle slopes and some very steep hills, which can provide a challenge at times. There is a bridge that crosses Ten Mile Creek, named in memory of the late Steven Ray Vaughan.

The hiking trail was named the Best Urban Hiking Trail by the Dallas Observer in September 2001, “Though just a few blocks south of Highway 67, it’s called a ‘quiet place’ for good reason. Wind along its foot trails, viewing the well-preserved flowers and fauna of the region, and soon you’re lost in another world.
