1. Do I have to provide my name and contact information to submit a report to the Fraud Hotline?: No, the online portal will provide you the option to include a reference code that will allow you to follow the investigation and resolution without disclosing your personal contact information. It will also allow communication with the investigation team through that anonymous portal. It is possible, however, that your identity may become known through the investigation process

3. What happens to the report after the Hotline receives it?: All complaints received are investigated by the City’s Fraud team. The issue may be referred to an external investigator if appropriate. The findings and resolution of the investigation process will be available through the Fraud Hotline portal and will also be reported quarterly to the City’s Audit & Finance Committee.

4. As a City employee or Contractor/Service Provider, may I report suspicious activities or fraudulent acts against the City through the Fraud Hotline?: Yes, City employees/contractors/service providers are encouraged, when aware of a situation, to report suspicious activities or fraudulent acts to the Fraud Hotline.

5. What about retaliation?: The process is designed to protect the identity of the reporting party. Significant protections against retaliation exist should the reporter’s identity be discovered during the investigation process. Federal and state law and City policy protect those who make good faith reports against any form of retaliation.

6. May I obtain the status of a complaint after it has been report?: Yes, the Fraud Hotline online portal allow the submitter of a report to use a specific code to anonymously check on the investigation status of their complaint.
