Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center
The City of DeSoto belongs to the Dallas County Household Hazardous Waste Network (HHWN), allowing citizens a means of disposing hazardous materials that can't be accepted at the landfill. The collection center, located in north Dallas is open throughout the year. Check the Informational Flyer for address and hours of operation.
Proof of Current Address
Bring driver’s license and water bill or other utility bill as proof of residence in DeSoto.
Mobile BOPA
The City of Dallas BOPA Mobile accepts only batteries, motor oil/oil filters, latex paint, and antifreeze for free. The maximum total amount of latex paint, motor oil, or antifreeze that can be dropped off per household per day is 25 gallons. Containers larger than a 5-gallon size will NOT be accepted. The maximum weight of the total amount of batteries which can be dropped off is 50 pounds. The average car battery weighs 40 pounds. Palletized batteries will NOT be accepted. This service is for residents only. Materials from businesses will NOT be accepted.
Residents of Dallas and Dallas County Household Hazardous Waste member cities who bring a drivers license or utility bill showing proof of residency can bring their used batteries, motor oil and oil filters, latex paint, and antifreeze to the Southwest Center mall between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a designated Saturday of the month.
BOPA collection will repeat on the fourth Saturday of every month.
Those who sign a waiver can get free household cleaning products that have been donated for reuse, while supplies last.

- Automotive fluids & oil filters
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Computers and cell phones
- Business or commercial waste
- Containers larger than 5 gallons
- Explosives or ammunition
- Shock sensitive materials
- Smoke detectors or other radioactive materials
- Common trash or recyclables
- Construction debris
- Electronics or appliances other than computers and cell phones
- Medical waste, including expired prescription medication. For instructions on disposal of expired/unused medications, check the DEA website at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov.
- The Home Chemical Collection Center is located one mile north of 635, between Miller Road and Forest Lane.
- The building is easily identified by its white color and bright turquoise trim.
- The entrance to the collection area is the first driveway north of the railroad tracks on the east side of the street.
- Do not turn into the driveway closest to the building; it is the exit gate.
