Honor Guard Overview
The DeSoto Police Honor Guard represents the department at police officer funerals and has been asked to assist in the rendering of the ceremonial tribute several times.

Honor Guard Composition
The DeSoto Police Honor Guard began with five members in 1993, and has increased to 20 members.

The Honor Guard is comprised of four major teams: Rifle Team, Color Guard, Casket Detail, and Casket Guard. All members are cross-trained in each area.

Old Guard Tradition
The DeSoto Honor Guard adopted the “Old Guard” ceremonial tradition, and is trained by the Third United States Infantry Regiment - “The Old Guard” - which is responsible for the ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.

The DeSoto Honor Guard sends four officers there every-other-year to train.
