City Secretary Alicia Thomas

Ms. Alicia Thomas has been employed with the City of DeSoto since May 2013.  She was first hired as the Assistant City Secretary and served in that capacity almost 8 years, before being appointed as Interim City Secretary in April of 2021.  The City Council officially appointed Ms. Thomas as City Secretary during the December 7, 2021 City Council Meeting.  

Ms. Thomas has an Associate Degree of Science in Business, Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Master of Science from Columbia Southern University.  Ms. Thomas brings with her a wealth of experience in municipal elections, preparing and filing meeting minutes, document retention, preparing and coordinating official City documents, developing and posting agendas, event coordinating and working with the public.

Ms. Thomas has two handsome sons and is the praise and worship leader at her local church.  She is currently working on her Texas Municipal Clerk Association certification, as well as her independent insurance licensing.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, movies, researching music history and spending time with close family and friends.
